Here's the Interview: One-on-One with ACE!
1. How did you come into wanting to become a rapper?
That's a funny story, I was always writing poems and shit in high school. So one day I went to the studio with Lil Toon and he said if I have something I wanna record I can. So I recorded Money Mitch and everyone in the studio said they was really rocking with it. Ever since then I've been recording music.
2. What separates your music from other artists? Describe yourself as an artist?
What separates me from any other artist is I dj too. Right now I do not know any Rappers that Dj as well and because I Dj, I know what the crowds and clubs want to hear. The best way to describe myself is the word Motivational. Music moves people, what you say can really hurt or help. So I try to make positive music, like Chasin That Bag. The bag is a metaphor, it can be whateer you want. A degree, a promotion on a job, money, your own business. You chasing it.
3. What artists do you look up to?
I look up too Yfnlucci, Rick Ross, yo Gotti, and Gherbo.
4. Why is pursuing your music important to you?
I have been working since I was thirteen and nothing I do feels right, but when I'm in the studio or Dj'n a party or listening to beats I feel free. Knowing this all I want to do. Also I want to help other Miami artist. There is A lot of talent in Miami, but a lot of hate too. I feel like each artist can change that and I plan on doing so.
5. With you being from your city, did the sound of early hip-hop/rap influence your music in anyway? Yeah a lot of ways. Miami is a money city. All the Ol heads did the same thing and that's chase money and hustle. That's what my music is for hustlers.
6. What direction you think you're setting for your city music scene?
No where but up like thers's no gravity lol. Positive moves only.
7. What do you think will help your city artists become more mainstream?
Helping and supporting each other. In Miami a nigga might not retweet your song because his mixtape dropped today. Miami artist feel independent and we are but at the same time asking hor help doesn't mean your depending on somebody. Also Miami radio stations need to play their artist music.
8. Where can fans find you?
They can find me on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook @ACEDATDJ and on soundcloud ACE.
Thank you for bringing me on to talk I wish you much success and my mixtape coming "Off the Clock to the Block: Vol1"
