Here's the Interview: One-on-One with Aaron Jackson!
1. When did you know for sure you wanted to take pictures?
It’s crazy because this was in 2012 but I knew that I wanted to pursue photography when I was in the 10thgrade at the age of 15.
2. Which is your favorite lens? Why?
I would say when it comes down to digital photography my 55-200mm lens is the way to go because when I shoot my photo sets, I get a more crisper image compared to shooting with a 18-55mm lens. When I shoot film and I’m on the go; I just shoot with my 35mm lens but if I’m going for a portrait shot I prefer a 50mm lens or sometimes a macro lens depending how I feel.
3.When you go on one of your travels, who and what all you take with you?
When I travel to a city, most times I go alone because I usually have friends & family in those cities to show me around town, and I’m a light traveler so I try not to carry as much baggage; I just pretty much bring my Carry-on and green ftsldrs bookbag wherever I go.
4. What is your favorite thing to do before taking pictures?
I don’t really have a set thing to do before taking pictures or shoots.
5. What kind of tools do you use for post processing? Explain your work flow
I only use Photoshop to edit my images and to be honest bro, my work flow is pretty much of getting inspired by different art or artists to enhance my creativity and work.
6. How do you educate yourself to take better pictures?
To be honest, I look at all my Archives to see what I can do better; so, for next time I won’t make that same mistake again. I’m not of those one minded people that think they know everything. There is nothing wrong with growth and learning something new; upcoming artist/photographers must understand that. I feel if you’re in the art field and you trying to compete; you’re already failing.
7. Who's work has influenced you most?
That’s a tough one because I study a lot of Photographers/Photojournalists. Ha-ha. I would say Vivian Maier, Andy Sweet, Gordon Parks, Sean Carneiro (a good friend of mine) & Terrence Price II (also a good friend of mine). The list can go on and on.
8. Where can viewers find your work? Any social media accounts?
Instagram? Tumblr?
You can check my work at Mxstermind.com and to venture my Journey to success you can follow all my social media platforms at @themxstermind.
