Here's the Interview: One-on-One with Pab's Print!
1. How did you come into wanting to become an artist?
I've always enjoyed art growing up just constantly drawing and painting to pass the time but i didn't take it serious until last year after seeing people's reactions to my pieces.
2. What separates your art from other artists in your field of work? Describe yourself as an artist?
I feel my work is clean and straight to the point but i add details that might go over people's heads. Other than commissions i feel my art is really for me i'm not making it to please anyone else that's why you see a lot of friends and family in my art obviously people who don't know them won't like the pieces as much as one of a well known celebrity but they're just as important to me if not more.
3. What artists do you look up to?
As far as graphic designers @itsmcflyy played a big role in seeing this type of art be successful, there's this acrylic painter @rob_regis who i'm a big fan of, @merimartusa has some amazing political drawings, @flthy.rich another chicago artist and friend is amazing at what he does too.
4. Why is pursuing visual arts important to you?
It's just fun and helps me escape nothing else matters when i'm working on something it's really therapeutic.
5. What tools do you use?
Photoshop and my Cintiq Tablet
6. While in the moment of designing do you listen to any music? What do you do to keep you in your vibe?
I listen to a lot of old R&B and just slow songs i feel are the best for designing, but if i'm working on a piece of a musician i'll listen to their music for example while i was working on the Kali Uchis piece i'll just have her album on repeat just to remind me why i'm a fan, honestly i might put on a random movie or show, maybe light a candle and smoke a little that would help me concentrate.
7. How do you come up with the concept for a piece?
I draw inspiration from every day life whatever i'm doing or watching at the moment and it'll just make sense to me.
8. What's your favorite piece of art you've designed and why?
Sears Kong is still my favorite at the moment, it just has so much of my favorite things in it, Chicago, Dragon Ball, the reference to King Kong and i made a night and day version.
9.Any artist(s) you would like to collab with?
Besides the artists i mentioned earlier no, not at the moment i have too much stuff i have to make.
